What's inside

Everything Finance covers.

Giving and funds

Online gifts from your giving page and the gifts your team records by hand, cash, check, card, transfer, all land on one ledger, split by fund as they arrive. Give a fund a target and watch raised totals, progress, and an honest read on whether it will get there. Filter by month, status, or payment method, and answer what came in this week without stitching three exports together.

  • One ledger. Online, cash, check, card, wire, and ACH gifts sit side by side, each with its fund, status, and memo.
  • Fund targets. Set a goal and dates on a fund, then track progress and whether it is on pace to meet it.
  • Known givers. When the giver is known, the gift ties to their People record, so a giver's whole story is one search away.

Budgets

Build a budget from real lines: income lines tied to funds, expense lines tied to categories, groups, and campuses. As the year unfolds, posted giving and approved spending land on their lines by themselves, so budget versus actual is a page you open, not a workup you wait a week for. Spending that is submitted but not yet approved shows as committed, so a line never looks healthier than it actually is.

  • Allocated versus actual. Each line shows what you planned, what has landed, what is committed, and what remains.
  • Only real numbers. Actual income counts posted giving inside the period; actual spend counts approved and reimbursed expenses.
  • A full lifecycle. Budgets move from draft through approval to active, then close or archive when the season ends.

Expenses and vendors

Record spending where it happened: every expense carries its vendor, category, campus, fund, and the budget line it draws from, with the receipt attached for whoever reviews it. Status is never a mystery; an expense is draft, submitted, approved, rejected, reimbursed, or void, and everyone can see which. The vendor directory keeps payment terms, tax details, and contacts beside the expenses themselves, so when someone asks what catering cost this quarter, the answer is one search away.

  • Receipts attached. Attach the receipt or invoice and view it right on the expense, without leaving the record.
  • Budget-aware. Tag an expense to a budget line as you create it, and the line's committed and actual figures follow.
  • Vendor directory. Payment terms, tax details, contacts, and notes for everyone you pay, kept current in one place.

Approvals

Submitting an expense stages its review automatically, and one approvals desk shows giving, budget, and expense requests together, each tab counting what still waits. Reviewers open the request, see the full record behind it, and decide; the decision stays on the request, so nobody reconstructs who signed off from memory. Locked giving cannot be quietly edited, either: changing it starts an unlock request that comes through the same queue as everything else.

  • One approvals desk. Giving, budget, and expense requests side by side, with pending counts visible from any tab.
  • Unlock requests. A locked gift changes only after a reviewed unlock request, so closed records stay closed.
  • Status filters. Search the queue and filter it by status: pending, approved, rejected, cancelled, or expired.

Financial reports

Giving, expense, and financial summaries come straight off the ledger, category breakdowns and top spends included, and the expense report exports as a clean document for the board. When the regulator's deadline nears, generate an Income and Expenditure statement, Budget versus Actual, or Fund Balances mapped to your country's annual return, Canada's T3010 among them, and walk each one from draft to final to filed. Year-end stops being a two-week archaeology project.

  • Statements on demand. Income and Expenditure, Budget versus Actual, and Fund Balances, generated for any period you choose.
  • Jurisdiction-aware. Statements map to your country's return, with Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, and Nigeria covered.
  • Draft to filed. Each statement carries its own status on the way to filed, so year-end leaves a paper trail.

Automations and AI

Configure it once and Finance keeps watch: a first-time giver gets a warm follow-up, a gift to the building fund can trigger its own thank-you, and when a faithful giver quietly lapses, someone hears before they are gone for good. Conditions understand money: amount, fund, first gift, total given, days since the last one. Describe what you want in plain language and Cendance builds the automation for you, or start from a template.

  • Giving triggers. A gift arriving or a giver lapsing can start any automation you can describe.
  • Money-aware conditions. Branch on amount, fund, first-time gift, total given, or days since the last gift.
  • Across the suite. Actions reach every Cendance product: send the email, start the follow-up, notify the team.

And more

More you can do with Finance.

Shareable giving page

Your church gets a giving link anyone can open, plus a branded QR code ready for the screen or the bulletin.

Giver-covered fees

Givers can choose to add the processing fee at checkout, so the gift arrives whole.

Recurring gifts

Members set up a monthly gift once and manage or cancel it themselves from the member app.

Manual giving methods

Share bank transfer details for people who give directly, set once for the whole church with per-campus overrides.

Giving locks

Locked gifts stay closed: any change first needs an approved unlock request, decided in the same approvals queue.

Multi-campus finance

Funds, expenses, and budgets all carry a campus, gifts follow the fund they land in, and the fund, expense, and report views filter down to one.

Questions

Asked and answered.

How do we get started with online giving?

A guided setup in settings connects your payout account through Stripe, you add your funds, and your giving page is ready to share. Gifts you already receive by cash, check, or bank transfer go on the same ledger by hand, so Finance is useful from the first week.

What do members see when they give?

They give from the Eden member app or the shareable giving page: pick a fund, give once or monthly, and optionally cover the processing fee. Members see their own giving history and can manage or cancel a recurring gift themselves, and bank transfer details appear for churches that receive gifts directly.

How is the money protected?

Access is deny-by-default: staff see only what their role grants, so Finance stays with the people who handle money. Card details go directly to Stripe and never pass through your team, edits to recorded gifts go through an approval request so nothing changes quietly, and data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

What does Finance cost?

Finance comes with a paid Cendance plan. Start free with People, add Finance when you are ready, and the pricing page has the details.

Do automations cost extra?

No. Cendance Flow, the automation layer, is included. Describe the automation you want in plain language or start from a template, and it runs across Finance and every other product you use.
